Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to health that focuses on the relationship between the body's structure (e.g. bones, muscles, joints), function (mobility), and how the body adapts to force over time. The key idea is that the body can heal and regulate itself when the tension of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia) are more balanced and mobile. Habitual lifestyle movements associated with occupation, recreation, training, and repetitive movement can create patterns of restriction, changing how force moves within the body. Instead of just treating where the pain or symptoms are, osteopathy looks at the body as a dynamic connected system, treating the areas of tension or imbalance that might be causing problems. Gentle techniques are used to ease tight muscles, joints, and connective tissues, helping the body balance its forces so it can heal naturally. When the body’s structure and function improve, symptoms often improve.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy assesses how force/load travels through the body and uses gentle, hands-on techniques, to help support the health of muscles, joints, and connective tissues by restoring mobility and balancing soft tissue tension, not just at the site of the symptom, but where the body expresses its issues, supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
